Early Mass Effect: Andromeda Concept Art Shows What Could’ve Been

A new collection of early concept art for Mass Effect: Andromeda has popped up online. The gallery comes to us from former Bioware Montreal Lead UI Artist, Eric Bellefeuille. The images Bellefeuille has shared with us shows what the game looked like in the early stages of its five-year development.

The images not only provide interesting insight into what the game could’ve looked like, but it also reveals a few of the team’s earliest ideas that were nixed in the final release.

Some of these ideas included earning gameplay-enhancing bonuses for scanning Remnant glyphs, an omni glove that shows the mission description and your location on the map, and a much different looking Pathfinder quarters with SAM contained in a Zordon-like tube a la Power Rangers.

You’ll also notice that many of the characters have different looks and descriptions. Most notably Peebee’s appearance, Vetra Nyx’s name change, and Cora Harper sporting a different haircut. It’s also interesting to note that in the screenshot below, Cora is listed as an Asari when she is clearly a human.
